A small cup with a large impact

A single menstrual cup has the power to change the lives of millions of people. Along with social, environmental, and financial benefits, distributing menstrual cups is also key to achieving gender equality.

Why it matters

an extra 36 days of movement

The Lancet shows that cups are safe to wear for up to 12 hours and reduce infections. They can allow for an average 36 extra days of free movement a year compared to other products, thus increasing school and work attendance, social engagements, and quality of life.

less than 1.5% impact

A menstrual cup has less than 1.5% of the environmental impact than a single-use tampon or pad and can be reused for up to 10 years. In that same time, one person may send 2,600 disposable pads or tampons to landfill.

£4,000 saving over lifetime

Disposable menstrual products are expensive, and often hard to obtain in some communities. A single menstrual cup can be re-used for 10 years and save a user up to £4,000 in a lifetime.

Immediate impact

In Western Kenya, MannionDaniels work with a local community health group to distribute menstrual cups along with health education. Early results show that two months after training, over 80% of participants are still using the cups.
